San Diego Comic Con was this past weekend. It’s four days of just nerdiness and pop culture and everything that comes along with it. I love when SDCC comes around because not only do we fans get a sneak peak of our favorite franchises, but there is a general sense of excitement and buzz hanging around town (and the internet).
I didn’t have passes to actually attend SDCC, but I got to walk around outside the convention as I helped my sister pass out Avon catalogues and free samples.
I had a successful trip to Barnes and Noble this past Saturday. If you hadn’t heard (or read my written flailing over the manga sale and event at B&N), Barnes and Noble is currently in the midst of their Get Pop-Cultured event. It’s a month long event that’s all about pop culture, or in other words, all about the nerdy stuff in our lives ❤
These last few weeks there has been a manga sale (Buy 2, Get the 3rd Free). It was a sale I definitely wanted to take advantage of and I did. These are the volumes I bought:
- Haikyu!! vol. 1
- Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-Kun vol. 2
- Kimi Ni Todoke vol. 1

This might be one of my favorite times of the year. Considering where I currently live (Hello there, San Diego), we tend to get a little nerdy when summer comes around. SoCal is great for it’s proximity to nerdy (and bookish) things alike. There’s Anime Expo in LA and then the Cons of all Cons, San Diego Comic Con (July 21 – 24). Even Harry Potter is reemerging from it’s slumber. It’s like this summer is the summer for all things nerdlife.
And Barnes & Noble, being the nerd central that it is, has brought Get Pop-Cultured back. Beginning July 6 and running until August 7, various Barnes & Noble locations across the country are holding events and get-togethers for fans.
Today, July 15 at 7 p.m., there will be Star Wars bingo, cosplay events, and giveaways! Tomorrow, July 16, is Pokemon and Manga!
Tomorrow is my day. I’m determined to get to a B&N and take pictures with Pikachu and Charmander, but also take advantage of B&N’s Buy 2, Get the 3rd Free Manga sale (this sale ends July 19).
Also, according to Yen Press, they’ll be giving away free posters during tomorrow’s Manga event. I’m so excited (Fruits Basket here I come!).
For more info, check out Barnes & Noble (omg, don’t even get me started on all the Harry Potter stuff that will be happening, I might just burst).
I am beyond excited for today’s Pokemon announcement from Nintendo. We finally have a release date for Pokemon Sun and Moon and we have a first look at the starter Pokemon (I cannot get enough of Rowlet, oh my gosh!).
But of course, it got me thinking, what kind of Pokemon would some of my favorite characters and characters from the books I’ve enjoyed have?
