I was in for a surprise when I found myself contemplating whether or not I should sleep or keeping reading this book into the night. I just could not put this book down.
Legend is an explosive start to a dystopian trilogy set in an ominous and volatile country. I was immediately drawn in by the setting that is so familiar and yet so foreign at the same time.
June Iparis is brilliant, headstrong, and courageous. After her brother is murdered, she’s determined to find his killer, while also proving her worth to her commander and team.
Day, is a criminal on the run who is loyal to his friends and family. He also happens to be the one person the Republic of America has been unable to capture.
And I already love both of them! Although, their young ages threw me off a little, their actions and characterization pulled me into the story quickly.
The characters are interesting and new to me, but I also loved the world, the setting, and the conflict at the heart of this story. It left me reeling!
The only thing that felt a little off was the romance. It felt a little to “instant”, but it didn’t distract me to much from the storyline.
This is my first Marie Lu book, but I think I’ve become a fan. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series and pick up Marie Lu’s latest series as well.
Read if you like: futuristic dystopian societies, corrupt governments, romance, strong & kick butt characters
