I remember coming across the Notorious RBG tumblr a few years back and thinking how funny it was. It also made me really excited that someone (on such a popular social media site) was blogging about a civil liberties and rights lawyer/judge. But look at it now! It has a book!

I feel oddly proud to know about it since the beginning (am I a snob?), but now I know the origin story thanks to this book! There’s a quick introduction to the phenomenon that is Notorious RBG, but in addition to that Irin Carmon offers a comprehensive overview of Ginsburg’s legal history and success and personal life.

Just thinking about this book makes me excited and inspired to do great things and prove myself (at what, I don’t know).

notorious rbg 2 editI love how the book is organized and presented. It’s easy to read and contains photos, quotes, and the chapter titles are from actual song lyrics written by Biggie Smalls (a really great touch!).

Notorious RBG utilizes top-notch reporting, which probably makes it so engaging (and informative) to read. It doesn’t feel or sound like a ‘boring’ biography, but fun and easy to understand and comprehend (especially when it comes to legal issues).

I’m really glad Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been presented to the world like this. She’s a legal icon who has accomplished many great things and now a new group of people can be introduced to her awesomeness. I absolutely loved and enjoyed reading this book and I think you will too.

Inspired by the tumblr blog of the same name, Notorious RBG is a thoughtful and memorable biography depicting RBG's life and success.
